Play Music on the Porch Day
|Step back in time to a day when the world pauses to the strum of a guitar, the plaintive melody of a bluegrass ballad, the clack of spoons, or the rhythm of a hand drum. It is just about that time.
“Play Music on the Porch Day” is a global celebration of music that takes place every year on the last Saturday of August. Everyone is invited to share their own love for their own music from their own porch, their yards, or even in a park or city green. “Play Music on the Porch Day” is always the last Saturday in August. It is on August 31 for 2024.
It is a simple idea, nothing complicated, grab your instrument, step outside, and fill the streets of your neighborhood with music. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or you just love to jam, this day is for you. It’s about community, connection, and music. From the heart of small-town America to the farthest corners of the globe, melodies will rise and blend into a symphony of peace and camaraderie as friends and neighbors join in harmony.
Play Music on the Porch Day was founded in 2013 by Brian Mallman, a Milwaukee-born, Los Angeles-based artist. You can see his artwork online at bmallman.com.
